INTERVIEWER NOTES
Jenna took a big chance on me. Whereas the vast majority of interviewees for this project were people I knew well or had met on previously occasions, Jenna and I were strangers before our interview. A few years ago, my partner Stephanie showed me a video of Jenna performing her poem “Everyone Loves a Jamasian Girl” and it made a big impression. So much so that I knew very early on that I wanted to include Jenna in the initial batch of narrators for this project. I reached out via email, explained the project and myself, and she said yes to an interview.
And in her interview, Jenna is generous and real, speaking truth to power throughout. As an added treat, she also performs a couple of her poems at different points in the recording.
